The Voices Within project aimed to combine art, technology and accessibility to create an immersive, interactive experience that would enable people with physical and learning disabilities to delve deep into their memories and lives and present them to others in entirely new ways.
The project was funded by the Rix Thompson Rothenberg Foundation and the research was led by self-advocate Patricia Charlesworth. Working with The Rix Centre Charity’s exploratory methods and technical expertise she developed a script for sharing her life story using a multimedia installation approach. Through the use The Centre’s facilities and production management support, a prototype installation for Voices Within was created. You can read more about the project in the Voices Within picture story.
