My New Media Life

in the British Museum foyer

On October 1st, 2008 at the British Museum. The Rix centre held a conference for managers and directors of social care and others who work with people with learning disabilities.

The Conference showcased how multimedia can be used to help people with learning disabilities. Multimedia allows the learning disability community to realise the aspiration of a personalised service by:

  • Making truly person-centred plans
  • Accessing information that is easy to understand
  • Realising independence with new media support
  • Shaping effective support for health, employment and social inclusion.

The conference included presentations by people with learning disabilities and their supporters from across the UK, who shared the innovative ways in which multimedia is improving peoples’ lives and making social care more effective. View the powerpoints
